Hello from Fallen Leaves Wirral Gardeners for our July update. (Remember book mark us on your browser or just search ‘Gardener Wirral’ or ‘Wirral Gardener’ – we’re top on a google search.)

We hope you have enjoyed the tropical weather during July. It was hotter than Spain and even some countries on the equator, for a day at least. It was brief though and returned to normal averages pretty quickly with some lovely summer days here and there – we haven’t had any requests to plant palm trees yet.

Rainfall has been sporadic but enough to mean high seasonal growth has continued as expected and the gardens look healthy, especially if we’re maintaining them. The school holidays often signal the start of a wetter period lets hope not too much this year for the sake of the kids!

The news this month from Fallen Leaves is that we’ve taken on Thornton Manor on a two day a week contract. Mowing and edging all the lawns at this premier wedding location that has a 120 Acres of grounds in total. As all of you that know Thornton Manor will realise this is a great reflection on the standards we have achieved and maintained.

We hope everyone on the Wirral and beyond continues to enjoy their summer gardens, hopefully the BBQ weather will continue to well into September.

The Summer Solstice is coming up on the 20th of June meaning we’re getting the most light in our Wirral gardens at this time of year. As you have probably noticed when we get a dry couple of weeks like we did recently plants get thirsty and can soon dry out . Remember to keep your favourite plants well watered, especially hanging baskets and potted plants.

STAFF REQUIRED FOR FALLEN LEAVES GARDEN MAINTENANCE (Wirral Tree and Garden Company)

Fallen leaves need new recruits to start work in March or April. Must have gardening experience and a driving licence. Tree surgeons also wanted but must be fully qualified and insured with the relevant tickets. Experience with power tools to a good level ( strimmers, blowers, mowers, hedge trimmers, ). Work will begin as part time but quickly become full time. At first you will only be needed as work becomes available but once the full time season kicks in work will be more readily available. Eventually you will be required to do 3/4 gardens a day alone and participate in weekend work if needed. Then you will be required to work as part of a team of two to do roughly 8 gardens a day all over the Wirral. Must have good knowledge of plants/flowers, shrubs and how to use the tools with different techniques. Good pay and holidays. Must be hard working, ever present, flexible, punctual and good with customers. The job is relentless from march to December sometimes working 7 days a week so only someone with a clear head, good energy and strong work ethic to apply. Must be trustworthy to handle money and be prepared to work in all weathers. All the necessary clothing, Van and tools provided by fallen leaves tree and garden maintenance. Our customer base is growing rapidly with different size gardens to complete and we have to work with pace and attention to detail in order to complete the days tasks.  In the past few years I started my own Gardening Business on the Wirral. With no driving licence, no tools and no lawn mower, cycling round to peoples homes I kindly used the customers tools and had a backpack with a small multipurpose knife in it!

I sent out two hundred and fifty flyers and received one call from a customer I still have today. Over the years and especially within the last six months because of my website, designed and coordinated by my cousin Rob Holmes, and a lot of hard work, we have almost tripled our customer base to over fifty clients. If you search for ‘Wirral Gardener’ or gardener wirral you’re sure to find us on Google, Bing or Yahoo. 

All garden maintenance is carried out professionally and thoroughly with great attention to detail and an aim to please. From postage stamp gardens to acres of land, we will take on any work without prejudice to the size or state of your garden.

Working seven days a week I have added some new faces who work alongside and in conjunction with me. Scott Marmion a fully qualified tree surgeon and arborist is on board and Ray Nicollodian a garden labourer. What Scott doesn’t know about trees isn’t worth knowing and has spent two years working literally in trees for a company in Chester. Scott is our head of trees and arborism. Adam Fitz, my nephew, who went to Reaseheath college for five years and is a qualified Greenkeeper and works for Royal Liverpool Golf Course. Adam was on the course camping out for weeks and getting up at three am to keep the course in unbelievable condition for the worlds best golfers. Adam is volunteering with me on turfing jobs as he turfs the golf course but is helping out to gain his own individual experience.

Also I am working closely and in conjunction with Nigel Carr of Lawn and Weed Wirral.Nigel runs his own business but I pass him on to all my customers as he specialises and is the master of treating lawns and weeds so basically we’ve got it all covered for garden maintenance. We will also undertake small landscaping jobs like creating borders and clearance work. For me the word landscaping is banded about far too easily and isn’t something we specialise in. Garden landscaping in its truest form and garden design is a on a different planet to garden maintenance.

Our prices are fair and reasonable and we are always looking for new customers. With all the equipment (!!) and all the necessary requirements for a successful business we will continue and strive to get better every year. Fallen Leaves are at home in the outdoors and we are like minded souls who enjoy our work and make every effort to please our customers. I am looking for approximately ten more customers to complete our work from now until winter sets back in. We are currently just about to tend the garden of Liverpool F.C.’S Jan Molby after a recommendation from a new customer of ours in Park Gate.
